In her speech, Robredo thanked the people of Zamboanga City for her overwhelming win as vice president in the 2016 national elections.

Robredo said she was sad when she filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) knowing that nobody would support her but was surprised by the outpouring of support from various sectors.

In her speech, Robredo criticized patronage politics and said now is the time to reset this kind of scenario.

“Patronage politics is very common in our country. This is the time for us to do a reset, ang tingin ko sa 2022 elections it is our reset button that we have to say enough of the kind of politics we are experiencing. Ako po ay isang politiko pero everytime pinapakilala ako na isang politiko nanliliit ako because of the bad connotations when you are a politician. Politics should bring about change and transformation,” Robredo said.

The inauguration is part of a tour where the vice president visited cities and provinces of Zamboanga Peninsula and Western Mindanao.

Prior to this, the vice president visited Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte and Kabasalan Municipality in Zamboanga Sibugay.
