The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 25, said a low pressure area (LPA) will continue to traverse Mindanao and Palawan within the next two days.

The LPA was estimated at 65 kilometers north of El Salvador, Misamis Oriental as of 4 p.m., Tuesday.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the LPA will continue to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mimaropa (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Soccsksargen, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

Estareja said the LPA will likely traverse western Mindanao on its way to the Sulu Sea by Wednesday, Jan. 26.

By Thursday, Jan. 27, he said that the weather disturbance will be crossing southern Palawan towards the West Philippine Sea.

Estareja pointed out that the LPA remains less likely to intensify into a tropical depression.

Meanwhile, in the next 24 hours, the northeast monsoon or "amihan" may bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
