Lacson: Laws to protect OFWs not felt due to lack of implementation

Despite the laws the Senate has passed to protect overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), they still are not felt by our countrymen because of an utter lack of implementation, presidential aspirant Senator Panfilo M. Lacson said today.

‘’We have passed a measure, didn’t we, the department for OFWs. Again, this is a department, what’s needed is execution or implementation. But if some nonsense gets mixed into this, nothing will happen again. The law we passed in Congress will go to waste,’’ Lacson, Partido Reporma chairman and standard bearer, said.

“Madaling gumawa ng batas pero ang problema pagka sa execution doon nagkakaloko-loko e (It is easy to pass laws but the problem is implementation),” added the three-term senator, who mentioned the other laws he helped formulate for the benefit of other sectors in the country.

Lacson said he would make it a priority as President to strengthen the economy and improve livelihoods, so our countrymen would no longer choose to go abroad to earn a living.

‘’The thinking that we need to go to other countries to earn a living should end. Our livelihoods should be here in our country, they should be earning here as much as possible,’’ he pointed out.

Lacson is confident that he could deliver on these promises because of his 18 years of experience in crafting laws and guarding the national coffers against thieves and the corrupt, by meticulously studying the budget and exposing anomalous transactions in government.

‘’What other candidates are promising, I have already been doing, even now when I am still a lawmaker. It would be a waste if I don’t contribute my experience, my competence, my track record that I’ve gathered over the years,’’ he added.
