Presidential aspirant and Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso clarified he was not promoting class war among Filipino people.
Domagoso made the response following the claims that he was trying to create a line between the rich and poor people.
“Basta ako nauunawaan ko yung katayuan ng isang tao at higit na nakararami sa atin kaya kung bakit nakikita niyo sa Maynila, puro sa tao, ‘yung mga ginawa namin, pabahay, edukasyon, kalusugan, trabaho (I understand the status of a person and most of us, that’s why you can see in Manila, what we did are all for the sake of people, housing, education, health, and jobs),” Domagoso said during Jessica Soho’s The Presidential Interviews aired on Saturday, Jan. 22.
“Kasi baka nakakalimutan natin na for the past 40 years, ang magkaaway lang dalawang pamilya sa politika, yung mga partido lang nila. (Because we may have forgotten that for the past 40 years, only two families have been are fighting in politics, only their parties),” he said.
The local chief executive has been continuously saying that he will prioritize providing public housing, hospitals, and create more job opportunities for the less fortunate.
“Basic governance. Baka minsan kasi sa sobrang laki ng mga pinangarap ng iba, nakalimutan na nila ‘yung basic o ‘yung tao (Because sometimes we may forget because of how big the dreams of others, they have forgotten the basics or the people),” he added.
On being likened to a populist, Domagoso said: “Well, I respect everybody’s opinion, but what matters most to me is the result...”
