Man drowns after escaping drug bust in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY – A man, who escaped a buy-bust on Thursday, was found dead the following day at the back of a cement warehouse in Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp. (Bredco) port in Barangay 2 here.

Lowie Sombilla, 31, of Barangay 2 was found half naked, barely 24 hours after his companion was arrested in a buy-bust at the said village last Thursday, that resulted in the recovery of P40,800 worth of suspected shabu.

Police Capt. Paul Vincent Pendon, head of Police Station 2, said Sombilla ran and jumped into the sea to evade arrest from the police operatives last Thursday.

Pendon said they tried to chase Sombilla but the latter continued to swim far from them that probably caused him to drown.

Sombilla’s body was identified by his father.
