To address the continued rapid spread of disinformation online, presidential aspirant and Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso vowed to go after those behind disseminating fake news.

In Jessica Soho’s The Presidential Interviews on Saturday, Jan. 22, Domagoso said owners of social media companies that spread disinformation online must be held accountable.
“Hinahayaan nilang gawing outlet ng mga maling impormasyon 'yung kanilang sistema. Now, beware by the time may awa ang Diyos palarin ako, lahat ng magiging bahagi ng fake news whether their system o the one person who did it under our law (They allow their system to become an outlet for misinformation. Now, beware by the time, may God bless me, everyone that will be part of the fake news whether their system or the one person who did it under our law will be held accountable),” he said.
Domagoso said even big social media companies that allow the publication of fake news on their respective platforms must also be held accountable.
“It's already existing sa ating mga batas, pati may-ari ng mga malalaking kompanya na 'yan, dapat papanagutin ng tao, ng bansa, ng estado (It's already existing in our laws, even the owners of those big companies, must be held accountable by the people, the country, the state),” he added.
