Apostolic Vicariate of Taytay, Palawan Bishop Broderick S. Pabillo cited the Holy Bible as most essential in unifying the faithful.
In a pastoral letter to mark January as National Bible Month, Bishop Pabillo stressed that the Bible highlights God’s enormous love for mankind.
"We do not use the Bible to criticize or start an argument with others. The true essence of the Bible is to unify Christians. Jesus wants us to be in solidarity with all those who believe in Him,” the Church leader said.
The prelate called on the faithful to make it a habit to read the Holy Bible to get acquainted with the Word of God.
“The Word of God comes to us through the Bible. That is why we need to give importance to reading and learning the Sacred Scriptures,” Bishop Pabillo said.
“The Holy Spirit is our guide in reading the Bible. When we read the Bible, we will feel love and unity within us,” he added.
The bishop urged the faithful to keep a copy of the Holy Bible at home and more importantly, to read and reflect on the Word of God.
In 2017, President Duterte signed Proclamation No. 124 marking January as National Bible Month and the last week of January as National Bible Week.
