3 killed, 5 wounded in Masbate shooting spree

CAMP OLA, Albay – Three individuals were killed while five others were wounded when unidentified gunmen went on a shooting spree at a residential house in Brgy. Capaculan, Milagros town, Masbate province on Saturday evening, Jan. 22.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) spokesperson identified the fatalities as Bengie Cataga, Jonel Verona and Jeddah Raven Dizon. Those wounded were identified as Juanito Cataga, Artemio Cataga, Michille Cataga, Nino Rosero and Felomina Dizon.

Initial investigation disclosed that the suspects used caliber .9mm, caliber .45 pistol and caliber 5.56 rifle in shooting the victim's house at around 9:20 p.m. on Saturday.

Motive and identities of the suspects are still to be established according to police as the victims were brought to the Masbate Provincial Hospital for medical treatment.
