Parks' Nagoya whips Hokkaido; Paras, Niigata suffer 24th straight loss

Ray Parks Jr. struggles didn’t prevent the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins from continuing their good run of form in Japan’s B.League after a 90-60 rout of Levanga Hokkaido Saturday, Jan. 22.

Parks scored just one point after missing all five shots while adding five rebounds and two assists in 19 minutes but the Diamond Dolphins cruised past the visitors in front of their fans at Dolphins Arena in Nagoya.

Nagoya improved to 19-8 after playing its first game since an eight-game winning streak was snapped by the Shimane Susanoo Magic last Jan. 3.

The Diamond Dolphins climbed to second in the West division, keeping an inside track in the race for playoff berth to start the second half of the regular season.

Dwight Ramos also had paltry numbers in the Toyama Grouses’ 93-87 road triumph over the Mikawa Sea Horses in Nagano.

Ramos had five points, one rebound and one assist off the bench as the Grouses improved to 11-18 after their upset win over the Sea Horses, who tied the Diamond Dolphins’ win-loss slate.

Kobe Paras and Niigata Albirex dropped their 24th consecutive game following a 76-64 defeat to the Shinshu Brave Warriors.

Paras went scoreless in almost 22 minutes while tallying two rebounds and three steals in the defeat that extend Niigata’s misery to a league-worst 2-25 mark.

Matthew Aquino didn’t play for the Brave Warriors, who moved to 11-16.

Javi Gomez de Liano was not on the active roster when the Ibaraki Robots fell 81-79 to the Hiroshima Dragonflies.

The Robots now have a 5-22 record.
