Man arrested for selling fake vax cards in QC


A man allegedly selling fake COVID-19 vaccination cards online was arrested in a police buy-bust operation in Quezon City in Barangay Unang Sigaw, Quezon City on Thursday, Jan. 20.

Police Maj. Loreto Tigno, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) chief, said the suspect, Mark Anthony Cervantes, 33, was nabbed at around 5:15 p.m. on East Service Road.

According to the District Anti-Cyber Crime Unit (DACCU) report, the police learned of the suspect’s illegal activity through a Facebook post by one Reylelyn dela Fuente offering a vaccination card for P400.00.

The police said they confiscated from the suspect several alleged fake vaccination cards and the buy-bust money.

Cervantes will be charged with falsification of public documents under the Revised Penal Code and violation of Republic Act (RA) 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases Law. (Cherrylin Caacbay)
