Many parents have been busy at home renovating, including their children who have grown taller and more mature the past few years. Nice Print Photo's Charisse Tinio is one of those who ventured into giving their second son Vito's room a room makeover.
"Vito had this room since birth up to 10 years old, so we though it's about time to change it," Tinio tells Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. "He was very excited with the whole process, including planning and looking at pegs."
With Tinio's business connections, and with most of them becoming her good friends, she asked event stylist Gideon Hermosa if he could take up the challenge of designing the room. "I see how he transforms event venues—so magical, so I thought it would be nice if he can help me," she adds.
Tinio shared that she and Hermosa interviewed Vito, such as asking what his favorite color is and what he wants to have in his new room. "He said blue, naturally because he's an Atenean, then we asked what elements he wanted. He said he wanted a double-deck bed, and he wanted a place where he will put his toys. So Gids (Hermosa) made that tree out of wood where he can place his books or toys on the branches. So cool!" The mom-of-three shared that they bought the double deck bed from an online sale.
Vito also likes gold, and that's where they came up with the idea for the room's theme. "We made a compromise that we would make it celestial to represent the gold with moon and starts on the ceiling. Gideon used wallpaper on the ceiling and it's custom-made."
With COVID-19 still out there, Tinio knew they just couldn't let anyone in to install and set everything in place. "We needed to be safe, so most of the things we had made were done outside. We just brought them into his room when they were done and ready to install." As for the timeline, everything took two months to complete.
"Magical evening for my two kids. Vito’s first time to sleep in his newly renovated room. Of course, his shadow Sienna would want to be with him. Excited for memories they’ll build in his new room and new bed under the stars," she posted.
