PH records 22,958 new COVID-19 cases, lowest in past week


The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Wednesday, Jan. 19, a total of 22,958 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases, the lowest in the past week.

This is even lower than Tuesday's new cases of 28,471.

Wednesday's case bulletin brings the total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 3,293,625.

Active cases stood at 270,728 or 8.2 percent of the total number of cases. Of this, 257,632 are mild, 8,335 are asymptomatic, 2,970 moderate, 1,487 are severe while 304 are in critical condition.

DOH also reported 36,611 new recoveries bringing the tally to 2,969,853 or 90.2 percent of the total number of cases.

There were also 82 new deaths bringing the death toll to 53,044 or 1.61 percent of the total number.
