The suspects were arrested at about 9:00 p.m. along Ninoy Aquino Avenue, Barangay San Dionisio, Paranaque City by members of the Paranaque City police Intelligence Section.

Southern Police District Director, Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, said the victim, identified as Li Menghai, was employed by the suspects. Li reportedly called up the suspects so he could get his personal belongings, including his passport.

Macaraeg said the victim claimed the suspects demanded money amounting to P1,000,000 in exchange for the release of his passport that prompted him to seek assistance from the Paranaque City police.
