Roxas City cop: No vax, no entry is unlawful

ILOILO CITY — A policeman in Roxas City, Capiz province was very vocal that the policy banning unvaccinated individuals against COVID-19 from entering government and private establishments is unlawful.

In a video circulating on Facebook, Police Master Sergeant Ronie Alfa Recto is seen talking to people outside the Home Development Mutual Fund (HMDF) or Pag-IBIG Fund-Capiz branch.

This comes as both the national government and local government has intensified policies that limit the movement of the unvaccinated.

This included the Capiz Provincial Board, which passed an ordinance.

Recto is seen telling people Monday, January 17, that getting vaccines against COVID-19 is not mandatory.

Wearing his uniform, Recto also holds a printed copy of Republic Act No. 11525 or the COVID-19 Vaccination Program Act of 2021.

Citing the law, Recto said that the law does not require persons to show vaccine cards to be able to transact for educational, employment, and other similar government transaction purposes.

“If you don’t believe me, you can search for it and read it for yourselves,” Recto added.
