As part of the Manila city government’s initiative to create more green spaces within the city, the recently refurbished Plaza Asuncion in Malate, Manila was inaugurated on Monday, Jan. 17.

The park is located on Asuncion Street right beside the Manila Zoo in Malate, Manila.

It has an area of about 652 square meters and will be lit by 4,000 Capiz shell lanterns.

Present at the inauguration were Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, Manila 3rd District Rep. Yul Servo-Nieto, and city engineers.

“Ito ay bahagi pa rin ng layunin ng pamahalaang lungsod na tiyakin ang balanse ng ecosystem sa ating kalunsuran kung saan mapapanatili natin ang espasyo para sa mga luntiang halaman na makakatulong sa polusyon ng hangin (This is part of the city government’s objective to balance the ecosystem within the city so as to create a space for plants and greenery that can help alleviate air pollution),” said Lacuna at the inauguration.
