UPDATE: 2 Bilibid escapees killed in Muntinlupa


Two of the three prisoners who escaped from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa on Jan. 17 were killed during manhunt operations by the authorities.

The Muntinlupa police identified the fatalities as Pacifico Adlawan, 49, a native of Surigao del Sur, who was serving his sentence for frustrated homicide and drug use, and Arwin Bio, 35, a native of Leyte, who was convicted of attempted murder and murder. Both were serving their sentences at the NBP.

Bio was killed during an encounter with elements of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and Muntinlupa police at about 3 p.m. along the Muntinlupa–Cavite Expressway (MCX).

The Muntinlupa police are still conducting operations to arrest prisoner and escapee Drakilou Falcon, 34, who is serving sentence for robbery with homicide.

At 1 a.m. on Jan. 17, Adlawan, Bio and Falcon escaped from the NBP maximum security camp.

An initial report by the police stated that the three prisoners escaped the NBP maximum security camp by sawing off the grills of the window of their dormitory cell. They fired at corrections officers at NBP Gates 4 and 3, and fled towards Sitio Magdaong inside the NBP Reservation.

Three NBP corrections officers and one prisoner were wounded. They were identified as Angelito Marquez, 57; Mark Joseph Pesons, 29; and Jancy Dagonas, 26; and prisoner Michael Dullavin. They were rushed to the Ospital ng Muntinlupa for treatment.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) earlier warned the public that the escapees were armed and dangerous.
