Public warned vs solicitation scam using Nograles' name

The Office of the Presidential Spokesperson (OPS) cautioned the public about individuals using the name of Cabinet members to solicit money for an unauthorized medical bond/medical insurance that would be used in applying for a government position.

The OPS made the statement following reports of some "unscrupulous individuals" who have been using the names of cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III to solicit for an unauthorized medical bond/medical insurance worth P6,000.

The said amount is supposedly part of the recruitment and hiring procedure for an unspecified post.

In its statement, the OPS warned the public about this scam and urged them to report to Malacañang if they encounter such.

"The OPS wishes to alert everyone of this illegal solicitation scheme and urges the public to report such fraudulent activity to 8888 Citizens’ Complaint Center," the OPS said.

It added that the people behind the scam are supposedly using the letterheads of the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
