Defensor to coordinate with QC gov't on COVID-19 response

Quezon City mayoral aspirant Rep. Michael "Mike" Defensor on Sunday, Jan. 16, said Team Malayang Quezon City is ready to coordinate with the local government on the fight against the new surge in COVID-19 cases.

"For now, we've set aside our political differences so that we can concentrate in helping to contain the surge in the new infections," Defensor said.

In a statement released on Sunday, Defensor said that his team has devoted additional resources and deployed people to help the families in the city who were affected by the disease.

"We are referring suspected new infections to testing centers as well as isolation facilities, and we are also providing food and medicines to affected households," he added.

As of Jan. 15, the city's COVID-19 total caseload is at 218, 583 based on the Department of Health's (DOH) tracker.

Earlier, the Anakalusugan Party-list representative has urged Metro Manila local government units, especially in Quezon City, to deploy mobile booster teams to enhance the vaccination drive against COVID-19.
