Kylie Verzosa wants to be a dramatic actress

Drama is one genre that 2016 Miss International Kylie Verzosa would like to excel in. We think she's saying this after the impact of being directed by award-winning director Brillante Mendoza in the upcoming film 'Sisid' streaming on Jan. 19.

In the movie, Kylie is the devoted wife of a marine biologist (played by Paolo Gumabao) who turns out to be a bisexual. He later on has an affair with his assistant (played by Vince Rillon).

With only a handful of movies to her name, Kylie may still be considered a fledgling actress, but she believes that the experience of being mentored by Brillante matured her career and placed it on another level.

"I learned so much about myself and my craft. Being in a Brillante Mendoza film is an out-of-the-box experience. The set was so open and free. It was very liberating," she said.

Kylie revealed that what's different with Brillante is that the actors are not given a script. She said it was stress-free because no one was allowed to memorize the lines. The beauty queen and actress added that the only pressure was that they were required to internalize and "go deep" into their characters.

"Definitely, the style of acting I learned from Direk Brillante is something I can carry over to my next projects," she noted.

For his part, Brillante only has good words for "Sisid" stars Kylie and Paolo. "They're really into what they do. Sobrang gusto nila matuto at gusto nila ginagawa nila."

Kylie invited all movie fans to tune in to "Sisid" on Viva Max Plus when it is shown on Jan. 19. " It's not just a sexy film. Maganda ang kwento. It's a must-see," she closed.
