PCG transports 40 tons of relief supplies for 'Odette' victims in Palawan


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has transported at least 40 tons of relief food and other assistance package to residents of Palawan who were devastated by typhoon "Odette" last year.

In a statement released on Saturday, Jan. 15, the PCG said those transported include solar lights, generator sets, mattresses, medicines, sacks of rice, and canned goods. They were all transported by BRP Gabriela Silang (OPV-8301) from Manila to Puerto Princesa and El Nido

PCG District Palawan Commander, CG Captain Angel Z. Viliran said the the supplies came from various humanitarian organizations, private sectors, and government agencies.

“The donations will be turned over to the Palawan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) for immediate distribution to recovering families who are currently staying in temporary evacuation centers and those who recently returned to reconstruct their damaged homes,” Viliran said.
