Over 800K worth of shabu seized in QC drug busts


Police seized a total of P816,000 worth of alleged shabu and arrested three suspects in two separate buy-bust operations in Quezon City early Thursday morning, Jan. 13.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) officer-in-charge Maj. Wennie Ann Cale identified the first two suspects as Micheal Bryan Ortiz, 30, listed as a regional priority target; and Josephine dela Cruz, 27, listed in Directorate for Intelligence watchlist, both from Baranggay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City.

The police carried out the entrapment operation in Brgy. San Antonio following a tip from an informant at about 2:40 a.m..

They seized from the suspects around 100 grams of shabu worth P680,000, a black sling bag, a coin purse, and the buy-bust money.

Meanwhile, Police Lt. Col. Tyrone DG Valenzona, QCPD La Loma Station 1 (PS 1) commander, identified the third suspect as Adrian Aleganza, 22, a resident of Brgy. Paang Bundok, Quezon City.

He was arrested at the corner of Isarog St. and Retiro St. in Brgy. Paang Bundok at around 1:30 a.m.

Aleganza yielded around 20 grams of shabu valued at P136,000, the buy-bust money, a cellphone, and one-pack of cigarettes.

The suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 while the recovered evidence will be submitted to the QCPD Crime Laboratory Office for forensic examination, police said.
