Mayor Isko signs ordinance regulating mobility of unvaccinated individuals

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Thursday, Jan 13, signed an ordinance regulating the mobility of unvaccinated individuals within the city.
"While it is true I agree , we were the first city na nag-bawal sa mall ng mga hindi bakunado. I think that is a message already. In fairness to the mall owners and operators sumunod sila. Tayo pipilitin natin pero pag talagang nagkaduluhan na eh kailangan may desisyon (to ban the unvaccinated individuals at malls. I think that is a message already. In fairness to the mall owners and operators, they complied. We will push but we have to make a decision),” he said.
Metro Manila mayors had earlier agreed to limit the mobility of unvaccinated persons in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Domagoso said he also believes that imposing restrictions on the mobility of unvaccinated individuals can help in preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, particularly its Omicron variant.
“Kung ano 'yung napagka-sunduan ng Metro Manila mayors, pahigpit ng pahigpit 'yan. Pero ako naman hinahabaan ko ang pasensya kasi naniniwala ako ang tao naman ay makatwiran (What the Metro Manila mayors have agreed upon, it is a tight decision. But I am extending my patience because I believe that people are reasonable),” Domagoso said.
"In a few days from now, may awa ang Diyos pag inimpliment na namin 'yung ordinansa namin wala na tayong masisisi.... Napaka-unfair sa mga vaccinated, sa mga pumila, sa mga nag-tiyaga para may proteksyon sa kanilang mga sarili. Napaka unfair sa kanila (In a few days from now, with God’s mercy, we will implement our ordinance. It is very unfair to those who are vaccinated, to those who lined up, to those who persevered to have protection for themselves. It’s very unfair to them),” he noted.
While there are only a few unvaccinated individuals still left, Domagoso stressed they can still get infected and spread the deadly virus.
He also maintained that the city government will not stop in reaching out to those who have not been vaccinated yet.
"We will continue to reach out... Makikita nyo naman ang mga bakunahan sa Health Center, eskwelahan, shopping malls at drive-thru. Lahat na ng uri ng opsyon, lahat na ng uri ng access , pinipilit namin. Panipis na ng panipis 'yung aming resources pero pinipilit namin habaan ang kamay namin and it’s time for you to decide (You can see there are vaccination centers in the Health Center, schools, shopping malls, and drive-thru. All kinds of options, all kinds of access, are being pushed. Our resources are running low but we are trying to extend our hand and it's time for you to decide),” he pointed out
"Pero kung kinakailangan proteksyunan natin ang higit na nakararami sa ating kababayan na nagdesisyon, nagmalasakit sa sarili, at tumugon sa pamahalaan, at nakiisa sa pamayanan na nagpabakuna (But if its necessary to protect the vast majority of our countrymen who decided, took care of themselves, and responded to the government, and joined the community that got vaccinated), then I think its high-time to police those who are unvaccinated, to regulate their movement, to protect others. This is about protection of your family, of your neighbors, of our community, of our city and our country),” he warned.
The city of Manila has recorded a total of 3,128 active cases. with 97, 294 recoveries and 1,787 deaths as Wednesday, Jan. 12.
