P8.5-M worth of 'shabu' seized in Negros Oriental

BACOLOD CITY – About one kilo and 250 grams of suspected shabu worth P8.5 million was seized by police from a man in a buy-bust in Barangay Talungon, Bais City, Negros Oriental last Monday.

Police arrested Alex Torres, 50, of Barangay Sab-ahan, Manjuyod town.

Also recovered from Torres were the P1,000 marked money, a .9mm caliber, and five ammunition.

Torres will face drug charges and another case for violation of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition in relation to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban.

Police are still investigating the source of the contraband and Torres’s background.

Torres has yet to be reached for comment on the said allegation.
