In the CHED COVID-19 Advisory No. 9 dated Jan. 10, CHED Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III announced the date for the Phase 2 of the implementation of limited face-to-face classes for all programs in areas under Alert Level 3 for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) response.

“The Commission on Higher Education hereby informs that the date of the Phase 2 of the implementation of limited face-to-face classes for all programs of HEIs in areas under Alert Level 3 should begin on 31 January 2022 (Monday),” De Vera said in the advisory.

This move, De Vera said, was made in connection with the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 148-G which approved the phased implementation of limited face-to-face classes in higher education for all programs under the Alert Levels System for COVID-19 Response.

De Vera said that this decision was also pursuant to Section II.A. of the CHED-DOH Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 2021-004 on the Guidelines on the Implementation of Limited Face-to-face Classes for All Programs of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Areas Under Alert Levels System for COVID-19 Response.

The recent development, De Vera added, was also made upon the recommendation of the Department of Health (DOH) - Public Health Services Team given the surge in COVID-19 cases.
