Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año confirmed on Tuesday, Jan. 11, of having tested positive for the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19).
This is the third time that Año tested positive for the virus.
"After several of my close contacts had tested positive, last night I also received a positive COVID-19 RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction) test result," said Año in a statement.
"Thankfully, I remain asymptomatic as of now. I will continue to work while isolating. I encourage everyone to get vaccinated and boostered as soon as possible, and to continue following health protocols," he added.
Año was physical absent during President Duterte’s “Talk to the People’’ briefing on Jan. 10. Instead, he gave his report virtually.
The DILG chief first got infected with COVID-19 on March 3, 2020 and underwent a second test on April 8 which came out negative.
But on August 16 of the same year, Año was again tested positive for the virus.
On Jan. 11, 2021 Año started his one-month leave as part of his then post-COVID health recovery plan. (Chito A. Chavez)
