If you ask fashionistas anywhere in the world what their favorite fashion glossy is, it is inevitable that you’ll get Vogue magazine. The iconic style bible has documented decades of fashion and history, making it a giant in fashion media and pop culture. It has spread all over the globe with more than 20 international editions, and soon to be included on that list is the Philippines.
Through a social media post, the president of One Mega Group Inc., Suki Salvador, announces the coming of the title to the Philippines.
“Happy to share that we are finally getting our own Vogue. Yes, Vogue Philippines is arriving in 2022! This is for you, ... Thank you for the trust Condé Nast,” he said in the post.
In case you didn’t know, Vogue is an American lifestyle and fashion magazine first established in 1892 as a weekly high-society journal. In its 129-year legacy, its US version has been led by the top editors including Diana Vreeland, Grace Mirabella, and its current editor-in-chief and Global Chief Content Officer for Condé Nast Anna Wintour.
According to Lifestyle Asia, Vogue Philippines' first issue is set to release its first issue on September 2022.
“We’re thrilled to launch our 29th edition of Vogue in the Philippines, a country with a growing luxury fashion market and a vibrant creative scene,” says Markus Grindel, managing director, Global Brand Licensing, Condé Nast. “The title will launch as a digital-first media brand with a monthly print edition and will serve as an exciting addition to our global Vogue network.”
With the current digitalization happening in fashion and media in the country, having a Filipino edition of Vogue solidifies not only the global appeal of Filipinos’ design creations but also the importance of print locally.
