Mayor Isko shares excitement over reopening of new Arroceros Forest Park

Manila mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso expressed his enthusiasm as he awaits the reopening of the newly renovated Arroceros Forest Park in the city.

"Eto yung dating tinatambayan ng mga tolongges, tambakan. Ang ganda na. Pwede ng pasyalan sa gabi, manligaw.. Kahit sa gabi makakaikot 'yung mga senior citizens at mga bata (This is where vagrants used to stay. It’s beautiful now. You can go visit it at night, court. Even at night, senior citizens and children can go around),” Domagoso said.

"Basta ikabubuti ng tao, maipagmamalaki ng Pilipino, gagawin natin... (As long as for the common good of the public, the Filipinos can be proud of, we will do it) the people deserve it," he added.

Domagoso also said that there will be amenities like play areas, kiosks, and public toilets, as well as a landscape with an elevated path walk, a coffee shop, a special lighting system, and water fountains.

"We make sure that when we build, we build fast because time is of the essence, especially ngayong panahon ng pandemya (in this time of pandemic),” he said.

One of Domagoso’s goals in the City of Manila is to reclaim lost open green spaces in the city occupied illegally by vendors, vagrants, and illegal settlers.

In February 2020, Domagoso signed Ordinance No. 8607, declaring the park along Arroceros Street as a permanent forest park.
