A grandmother and her family in Cebu City joined in sending help to typhoon Odette-hit communities by donating hundreds of coins her family has saved up.
Nancita Mabini visited Vice President Leni Robredo’s campaign headquarters in Barangay Kasambagan in Cebu City on Thursday, Jan. 6, carrying a can full of coins amounting to P704.50.
She also turned over a P1,000 bill.
According to Mabini, the cash donation she turned over was from the hard-earned savings of her family, which they opted to send to help in the relief efforts being conducted by Robredo volunteers in Cebu City.
Mabini told the volunteers that the coins were gathered by her sister Rosaminda while the P1,000 bill came from her sister Felicitas, who decided to donate the money for the victims of typhoon Odette instead of using it to purchase her medicines.
A series of photos of Mabini turning over the cash assistance was posted by Leni Robredo for a Better Philippines 2022-Volunteers in Cebu on Facebook on Jan. 6.
Fellow Robredo supporters also lauded the Mabini sisters for their kindness.
“Thank you so much Lola for your golden heart. Your love of country has not faded even in your twilight years. Salute to you!” Fiery Lao commented on the post.
“God bless you more, Lola! Makakaasa po tayo sa tapat at mahusay na Robredo governance sa May 2022,” said Clairedelune Gamboa.
