367 of 408 designated quarantine hotels inspected so far-PNP

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has so far inspected a total of 367 of the 408 designated quarantine hotels across the country.

PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said those inspected include all the 119 quarantine hotels in Metro Manila, all the 24 quarantine hotels in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), all the 56 hotels in Zamboanga region and all the 18 quarantine hotels in Western Visayas.

He said he expects all the rest of the quarantine hotels to be inspected today, Jan. 6.

But this does not end with the inspection as Carlos said at least two policemen will be deployed in each of the 498 quarantine hotels across the country.

"They will be on 12-hour shift and they will be in constant coordination with the hotel management and other government agencies particularly the Bureau of Quaratnine to ensure that those who must quarantine are inside the hotels," said Carlos.

Based on the police inspection in the past few days, all the returning Filipinos from abroad are inside the quarantine hotels.

President Duterte tasked the PNP to strictly monitor compliance of quarantine in the hotels following the controversy brought by Gwyneth Chua who skipped the mandatory isolation band later tested positive for the coronavirus. At least 15 people were reportedly infected as a result.

She was already slapped with criminal charges along with her parents and boyfriend while investigation is being conducted against another quarantine jumper in Metro Manila.
