Due to the fresh surge of new daily cases of COVID-19, Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday, Jan. 5, brought back her office’s free mobile antigen testing program in two sites: Tandang Sora and Quezon City Memorial Circle.

The first day of the Swab Cab in Tandang Sora, Quezon City saw a positivity rate of 46 percent as of of 1:20 p.m.

Robredo, in a Facebook post, said that 191 out of 410 tested positive.

“With the continuing increase of COVID-19 cases, patuloy po sana tayong sumunod sa mga health protocol. Magsuot ng mask, at kung hindi kailangang lumabas, manatili sa loob ng bahay. Magpabakuna at magpa-booster shot na rin kung qualified na (let us continue following the health protocol. Wear a mask, and if you don’t need to go out, stay in your homes. Vaccinate and get your booster if you are qualified). Let’s keep each other safe from the virus,” she wrote in an earlier post.

In the same post, Robredo said that the Swab Cab, as in previous months, was made possible in partnership of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) with the local government of Quezon City and UBE Express.

Walk-ins are allowed at Tandang Sora Avenue corner Visayas Avenue Extension in Quezon City for Wednesday’s schedule.

On Thursday, Jan. 6, patients must pre-register through a link posted by Robredo on her Facebook page before they can proceed to the QCX site at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

The Vice President remained optimistic that the country can fight the pandemic with everyone’s cooperation.

“Sa OVP, hangad natin ang kaligtasan ng lahat (Here at the OVP, we hope for everyone’s safety),” she said.

On Wednesday, the country logged 10,775 new cases with a positivity rate of 31.7 percent.

The new cases is the highest since Oct. 10 last year while the positivity rate is a new record high.

The World Health Organization (WHO) benchmark for positivity rate is less than five percent. Hence, the current positivity rate in the country has far exceeded this standard.

The Department of Health (DOH) also now includes antigen test results to its daily case bulletin.
