BACOLOD CITY — A couple and their two-month old baby boy died after they were hit by a water tanker that was tailing their motorcycle at Sitio Ulay, Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

Wounded was Angeline’s 10-year-old brother, a resident of Don Salvador Benedicto town.

Police Capt. Roger Pama, deputy police chief of San Carlos City Police Station, said the water tanker driven by Mykill Galgo, 24, of Sipalay City, encountered mechanical trouble when its steering wheel malfunctioned, causing the tanker to crash into the family’s motorcycle driven by Joemar.

Pama said the tanker was supposed to overtake the motorcycle, but Galgo lost control over the vehicle which swerved towards the victims.

The family, who was on their way to Don Salvador Benedicto town, died on the spot as they went underneath the tanker, Pama said.

The 10-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after he was thrown off and is confined in a hospital, Pama added.

Pama said that Galgo, who is unharmed, is detained at the police station, pending the decision of the victims’ family on the case.
