Solon questions prohibition on unvaccinated individuals

Bayan Muna partylist Rep. Ferdinand Gaite questioned on Tuesday Metro Manila mayors’ decision to prohibit unvaccinated individuals from going outside as he said even the vaccinated ones can still be infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Gaite said the Metro Manila mayors “should not issue a blanket statement” when they signed the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Resolution No. 22-01 because there are individuals who do not get the vaccine based of “medical, religious or personal reasons.”

“Ni hindi pa nga sapat ang suplay ng bakuna na responsibilidad ng pamahalaan tapos ngayon halos gawing mandatory ito (The vaccine supply isn’t even fully enough yet and now the government is making it mandatory),” he added.

Instead, the lawmaker pushed for free mass testing, which does not necessarily mean testing all individuals but to test those who have symptoms, those who have exposure and those coming from high risk ares here and abroad.
