Robredo dodges COVID-19 for third time; reunites with daughters

It was a reunion of some sort for Vice President Leni Robredo and her three daughters as they posed for their first family photo to celebrate the new year after they were placed under quarantine.

Robredo cleared quarantine protocols for the third time after she was exposed to a close-in security staffer who tested positive to COVID-19. In August and September 2021, she was also in self-isolation after being in close contact with infected staffers.

“Today, we are all finally reunited after I completed my quarantine and got a negative RT PCR,” she posted on Facebook.

The Vice President revealed suffering from tonsilitis, high-grade fever, and chills after she visited Dinagat Islands on Dec. 28.

Her doctor decided to put her on dextrose, so the aspiring president had to spend the New Year in bed.

“Sorry for all the missed messages, greetings, etc. I’m back to my old self now and reunited with my girls. I will try my best to catch up starting today,” she said.

Robredo also said that her second daughter, Tricia, tested positive for COVID-19 and had to be in an isolation facility for several days. She also contracted dengue while quarantined.

“Tricia tested positive on Christmas Day and I had a horrifying few days worrying about them and taking care of their needs,” she wrote.

“Aika and Jillian ended their 14 day quarantine earlier than us. It was a miracle they didn’t test positive because they traveled with Tricia,” Robredo added.

Aika and Jillian, the Vice President’s eldest and youngest daughter, respectively, also posted on their social media accounts about the reunion.

“From our family to yours!!! Finally (pink flower emoji),” Aika wrote on Instagram. She posted a family photo of them four—Aika, Tricia, and Jillian standing behind their mother, who was sitting down on a chair.

Jillian, whom Robredo had not seen face to face for a year because she was in her last year at the New York University, also posted a series of Instagram stories.

She said that they are finally out of quarantine after 16 days. She also congratulated their “COVID/dengue” survivor, tagging her sister, Tricia.

Jillian captioned another post that Robredo is “reunited with her favorite child after a year.”

Tricia, a doctor, stayed in New York since November for a short residency program. She reunited with Jillian and later on, Aika, who flew in mid-December.

However, Tricia said she developed dry coughing on Dec. 19 on their way back home to Manila. She decided to isolate in a room after they arrived but tested positive on Christmas Day.
