
As part of its mission of sending aid where help is needed, the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) provided cash relief and non-food items to typhoon-hit families in Bohol on Sunday, Jan.2.
In a press statement, the humanitarian organization said PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon headed to Ubay, Bohol and distributed P3,500 cash assistance and jerry cans to 300 Odette-affected families.
Tarpaulins and sleeping kits were also given to residents of Talibon, Bohol while individuals residing in Loboc, Bohol received hygiene kits.
“All out ang PRC sa mga paghahatid ng tulong sa mga naapektuhan ng bagyo sa Bohol. Patuloy natin isasagawa ang mga humanitarian interventions natin mula sa paghahanda hanggang sa relief operations (PRC is all out in delivering aid to those affected by the typhoon in Bohol. We will continuously conduct our humanitarian interventions from preparation to relief operations),” said Gordon.
The organization previously deployed a humanitarian caravan to Bohol which provided immediate assistance to typhoon-affected families in the province.
Meanwhile, PRC also established a welfare desk, hot meals distribution, clearing operations, water distribution, and contact tracing as part of its “Odette” response. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
