MTRCB: Metro Manila cinemas operational despite Alert Level 3 status

Movie theaters in Metro Manila will remain operational despite the change of the region's coronavirus alert status from 2 to 3, said the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on Sunday, Jan. 2.
The new alert level for Metro Manila will take effect from Jan. 3 to Jan. 15, 2022.
Under Alert Level 3, indoor movie theaters are allowed to operate at a maximum capacity of 30 percent for fully vaccinated individuals.
Meanwhile, outdoor movie cinemas will be allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity.
MTRCB reiterated that minimum public health standards such as the proper wearing of masks and adhering to social distancing should be observed in the movie theaters.
"We appeal to the viewing public to be a 'responsableng manonood' (responsible moviegoers) by observing minimum public health standards," the MTRCB said.
"Likewise, we encourage all to get vaccinated against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) through your local government units. Together, we shall make 2022 a healthier, safer, and prosperous year for everyone," it said.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases on Dec. 31, 2021, placed Metro Manila under Alert Level 3 from Jan. 3 until Jan. 15, 2022, to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 amid the recent spike in infections. (Charie Mae F. Abarca)
