Actor-businessman Enchong Dee welcomed the new year with hip-hop dance moves as he remained silent about the cyber libel complaint slapped against him.
On Instagram Jan. 2, Enchong shared a dance video with the caption: "Hello 2022."
Despite the wacky dance steps, Enchong remained silent about the indictment by prosecutors in Davao Occidental over the complaint filed by Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights (DUMPER) Party-list Rep. Claudine Bautista-Lim.
Bautista-Lim filed the case after Enchong allegedly tweeted malicious and defamatory social media posts about her wedding in July.
On Aug. 14, 2021, Enchong wrote: "The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding. Let's not prolong this conversation and don't say otherwise."
Part of the resolution read: "Calling someone a thief, without proof and with heavy malice, is where to draw the line, as this is already libelous."
Bautista-Lim said she is seeking P1 billion in damages from Enchong.
In a statement released on Nov. 12, the congresswoman said she really had no plans of filing a case against the celebrities and netizens who criticized her wedding.
Bautista-Lim said that it was her husband who convinced her to file charges because his family was greatly affected by criticisms.
"The anxiety, anguish, humiliation and the impact on my and my family's reputation left us no choice but to file cases against those responsible for causing us so much grief and worry, which almost led to me losing our baby, and which adversely affected some of our constituents' trust in us," she said.
Other celebrities who criticized Bautista-Lim - Agot Isidro, Pokwang, and Ogie Diaz were cleared by the court.
