4 persons injured, one house burned, one killed amid New Year revelry in Muntinlupa

Four persons including three kids were injured by firecrackers, one house burned down and one person was shot and killed amid the New Year celebration in Muntinlupa.

Many people welcomed the New Year in Muntinlupa with firecrackers and fireworks despite a total ban on the use, possession and sale of the items in the city.

FIRECRACKER INJURIES

According to the Muntinlupa City Health Office (CHO), as of 9 a.m. of Jan. 1, two males and two females were treated at hospitals for firecracker-related injuries.

A seven-year-old boy from Putatan was treated at Medical Center Muntinlupa. At the Ospital ng Muntinlupa, a five-year-old girl from Cupang, a seven-year-old boy from Putatan and a 32-year-old pregnant woman from Putatan were treated for injuries.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old girl from Silang, Cavite was treated at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang.

FIRE

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Muntinlupa responded to a fire inside a posh subdivision in Muntinlupa on Jan. 1.

According to BFP-Muntinlupa, a two-storey house at No. 77 Ormoc St. in Alabang Hills Village in Cupang burned down with the first alarm raised at 12:20 a.m. The fire was put under control at 12:49 a.m. and was put out at 1:07 a.m. Firefighters are assessing the worth of damage and cause of the fire.

SHOOTING INCIDENT

Meanwhile, the Muntinlupa police reported that one person was shot and killed in Alabang, Muntinlupa on Jan. 1.

The police said the shooting incident happened at 1:45 a.m. in Bautista Compound in Purok 8. The victim was identified as Jefferson Clima.

FIRECRACKERS CONFISCATED

The Muntinlupa police confiscated firecrackers to implement an ordinance banning the use and sale of the items in the city.

They confiscated 26 pieces of assorted firecrackers at 11 a.m. on Dec. 31 in Bgys. Sucat and Bayanan. Another 473 pieces of assorted firecrackers were also seized on New Year’s Eve in Bgy. Alabang and 12 pieces of firecrackers were confiscated in Pleasant Village in Bgy. Bayanan.
