Think thrice before announcing new quarantine status, govt told

A Manila city official told the national government to “think thrice” before making official announcements regarding quarantine classification.

Manila Bureau of Permits chief Levi Facundo said “a lot of time was wasted” with the government’s last-minute decision to defer the implementation of the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with alert level system in Metro Manila.

Facundo said his team has been working all day to make sure that the GCQ resolution will be understood by its residents and business owners who will be affected by the new quarantine classification.

“Think thrice. Examine before proposing. See if the plan is bullet proof. Plan ahead. I see our team going back and forth looking for guidelines just so we can give the most accurate information to our constituents,” Facundo said Tuesday.

“I just hate the fact that a lot of time was wasted. The most expensive investment we put in is time. We cannot bring it back anymore!,” he added.

Facundo added that he also does not favor the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) extension “It does not make sense anymore. I want businesses to open,” he said.

A restaurant owner in Manila also slammed the government for retracting its decision on the next quarantine status of Metro Manila only a night before its supposed implementation.

“Dear government maawa naman kayo sa mga taong sobrang naapektuhan na nag tatrabaho ng maayos,” Inchang Mendoza wrote on Tuesday.

Mendoza’s staff already met in preparation for the reopening of the restaurant which has now been deferred due to MECQ extension.

Churches in Metro Manila have also cancelled public masses pursuant to the Inter-Agency Task Force guidelines.
