Taguig City hits 1M administered COVID-19 vaccines

The Taguig City government has administered one million coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines to reach a milestone in its vaccination program.

On Sept. 7, Taguig’s vaccination jabs totaled 1,015,029 to become the fourth city in the country to reach the one millionth mark after Quezon City, Manila, and Caloocan.

“Alam ko na mabibigyan ako ng proteksyon para maprotektahan ko rin ang aking pamilya mula sa virus. Malaking bagay na mabigyan nito, lalo na laganap ngayon ang COVID-19, at nakakatuwang malaman na libre ito. Kunin natin ang oportunidad na ito para magpabakuna (I know that I will be given protection so that I can also protect my family from the virus. To be given this is a big thing especially that COVID-19 is widespread and I am glad to know that this is free. Let us take this opportunity to get vaccinated),” said Escalante as she urged people who are hesitant to get the vaccine.

The Taguig City government attributed the one millionth jab milestone to the hard work of healthcare and essential workers in the city who contributed to contact tracing, vaccination efforts and the city’s implementation of the Prevent-Detect-Isolate-Treat-Reintegrate (PDITR) strategy against COVID-19.

As of Sept. 6, Taguig has vaccinated 635,821 individuals including 371,076 who are fully vaccinated.

Taguig’s active COVID-19 cases totaled 2,017 including 271 new cases as of Sept. 6 out of 38,087 confirmed cases. It also recorded 35,765 recoveries and 305 deaths.

According to a report by the Department of Health (DOH), Taguig has 26 cases of the highly contagious Delta variant.
