The Pateros municipal government launched Wednesday the registration of 12 to 17 years old for COVID-19 vaccination.

Residents who are 12 to 17 years old can register using a QR code that can be found on the Pateros municipal government Facebook page.

“We are fixing their registration although the vaccination has not started and we cannot say when their vaccination will start because we are still waiting for the delivery of the vaccines,” said Pateros Mayor Miguel “Ike” Ponce III in a live broadcast on Facebook.

He reminded the youth that their parents need to know that they are registering for the vaccination.

In the vaccination form, those who are 12 to 17 years old need to provide their complete name, the name of the parents, age, birthday, contact number, barangay where they reside, and address.

Ponce said in the vaccination for the youth, they will use the first in, first out system wherein those who register first will be prioritized in the schedule for vaccination.

Pateros surpassed 100 percent of the target population of 56,000 for the first dose and achieved 70 percent, or about 39,200 individuals, for the second dose as of Aug. 30. It increased its target population from 70 percent, or 49,000, to 80 percent, or 56,000, out of the estimated total population of 70,000.

The Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier approved the use of the Moderna vaccine for 12 to 17 years old after the drug manufacturer filed an amendment to its approved emergency use authority (EUA), issued in May, which originally allowed the use of the vaccine for 18 years old and above.

Ponce earlier said parents will be required to accompany their children to the vaccination centers. They also need to sign a consent allowing their children to get vaccinated to ensure that they know that children will get the jab and they approve it.
