She is a beauty queen making a foray into acting.

Kylie Versoza, former Miss International, is now being introduced as lead star of Viva’s latest erotic thriller “The Housemaid.”

It’s nothing new, of course.

Many before her have trundled through the same path, Gloria Diaz among them.

The former Miss Universe first garnered notice as actress a couple of years after she relinquished the crown in “Ang Pinakamagandang Hayop Sa Balat Ng Lupa.”

She has since appeared in a slew of films, winning several acting awards along the way.

And Gloria is still very much active to this day.

With Kylie slowly carving her niche in the industry, many are convinced she is Gloria’s heir apparent.

Does she agree?

The 29-year-old gushed when told about it.

She said, “Oh, my God! Sobrang idol ko siya. I really don’t mind being compared to her!”

The two actually met.

They didn’t know each other personally that time, but Gloria, mesmerized with her looks and height, approached her and told her to try pageantry.

Kylie related, “She was like, ‘Iha, come here, come here …’ I don’t know if I should be insulted or something because I was already a beauty queen at the time.”

And how did she find her way into showbiz?

Kylie shared, “After the beauty queen thing happened, people just started knocking on my door and I felt like I wanted to try it. I think you’re really a beauty queen only during your reign. So, what do you do with it when your reign is over? In my case, I was ready, eager to see what was next for me.”

Then again, her boyfriend, Jake Cuenca, is also a huge influence.

“Through him I learned to love acting even more. His passion is sobrang nakakahawa! But honestly, acting has been a hidden dream of mine talaga since I was a kid.”

Now she stars in “The Housemaid.”

Kylie maintained, “I’m proud of the work we did for this film. I really gave my all, heart, body and soul. Hopefully, people would appreciate it.”
