Subsidized RT-PCR tests for NCR travelers to resume on Sept. 8
The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the marketing arm of the Department of Tourism (DOT), will resume the subsidized reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests for approved domestic tourists in Metro Manila starting Wednesday, Sept. 8.

This, after the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed the National Capital Region (NCR) back to the less strict general community quarantine (GCQ) status.
In an advisory on Tuesday, Sept. 7, the TPB said it will open again the applications for NCR travelers who want to avail of the subsidy.
According to the TPB, it will cover tourists with flights or trips departing from Sept. 8 onwards.
For provinces with extended modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) status until Sept. 30, such as Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna, the TPB reminded that only authorized persons outside their residence (APORs) will be allowed to travel from areas covered.
Meanwhile, affected tourists may re-apply through the agency's website at https://www.tpb.gov.ph/rtpcrphtravel-application.
The DOT and TPB partnered with the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) and the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) last year for the rollout of the subsidy program which aims to encourage more domestic tourists to travel and gradually revive the tourism industry.
With the subsidy, the TPB shoulders 50 percent of the original price charged by the PCMC and UP-PGH for RT-PCR tests—cutting the fee for approved tourists to P750 and P900, respectively.
