San Juan City tricycle drivers swabbed for COVID-19

Civic leaders in San Juan City have launched the first of a series of swab testing for public transport drivers to keep residents safe from the ill-effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte District 3800 selected tricycle drivers in the city as the first group of persons to be swabbed for detection of COVID-19 infection.

The group lauded tricycle drivers and operators for fully cooperating in the successful launch of the project called Rotary Mobile Swab.

“The only solution to this pandemic is for us to work together," said past President Josh Santos.

Santos, chairman of the Rotary Mobile Swab project, said the swab project is just one of the programs initiated by the RC-SJDM as part of the efforts to control community transmission of COVID-19 infection.

Target beneficiaries of the project will be subjected to swab testing on a day-to-day basis.

“In the coming days the project will also cater different sectors and individuals. The vision of the project is to have continuous swabbing efforts so that the community will have an early detectionl.” said Santos.

On the other hand, Club President Valerie Siy said they are currently studying the inclusion of other cities under Rotary International District 3800.

“We are looking to expand the project in different cities with different Rotary Clubs in our District,” said Siy.

Siy cited also cited the cooperation of the San Juan City local government and the Rotaract Club of San Juan del Monte Premier in supporting the project.
