The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is tracking two tropical depressions east of the country on Monday, Sept. 6
The first cyclone inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) has been named "Jolina," while the second cyclone will be given the name "Kiko" once inside the PAR.
As of 4 a.m., the center of tropical depression Jolina was estimated at 300 kilometers (km) east-southeast of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, or 310 km east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
Meanwhile, the tropical depression which is still outside the country's area of responsibility was located 1,480 km east of Visayas.
PAGASA said that both cyclones have maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
However, Jolina is moving west-southwest, while the tropical depression outside the PAR is moving north-northwest.
PAGASA said that if Jolina maintains its current speed and track, it will likely make landfall over northern Luzon by Friday, Sept. 10.
For the second tropical depression, PAGASA will be providing a more detailed forecast once the weather disturbance enters the PAR within 24 to 36 hours.
