Muntinlupa LGU distributes 95% of ECQ 'ayuda'

The Muntinlupa City government is nearing completion in the distribution of the national government’s “ayuda,” or financial assistance, that was allotted to people in Metro Manila affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from Aug. 6 to 20.

As of Sept. 4, the city government has released P418,538,000, equivalent to 94.65 percent of the total budget of P442,191,000 for the city. This translates to 418,538 individuals who received the financial assistance in Muntinlupa.

The remaining amount to be distributed is P23,653,000, or 5.35 percent of the total, to 23,653 individuals.

The city government started releasing the “ayuda” last Aug. 11 and is now using both the mobile wallet app GCash and manual payout to give the money to beneficiaries.

Sec. Eduardo Año of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) earlier announced that the distribution of the “ayuda” by local government units (LGUs) is extended until Sept. 10.

The national government released P11.25 billion to 16 cities and one municipality in the NCR for the “ayuda.”

As of Aug. 31, Metro Manila LGUs were able to release P10.66 billion, or 94.73% of the total budget, equivalent to 10.66 million individuals. Quezon City, Manila, Caloocan, Pasig, Malabon and Navotas completed distributing 100 percent of their allotments.

Based on the Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) No. 3 issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of National Defense (DND) and DILG, a P1,000 financial assistance will be given per individual up to P4,000 per family.
