Controversial Zamboanga-Seo bout under formal review, says ONE chief

ONE Championship chief Chatri Sityodtong announced Sunday, Sept. 5 that the controversial bout between South Korean Seo Hee Ham and top-ranked atomweight Denice Zamboanga is under formal review by the promotion's Competition Committee.

Sityodtong bared the development through a Facebook post a day after sharing his takeaways for the historic all-female card of ONE: Empower.

Sityodtong acknowledged that Zamboanga should have won the fight but also understood why the judges decided to hand the win to Seo.

The ONE honcho explained that it was a very close fight and that the South Korean was landing "cleaner and heavier" punches while the Filipina fighter got full control of the takedowns and the ground game.

On top of this, Sityodtong also gave a glimmer of hope to fight fans and said he's still looking forward to a possible match with current world atomweight champion Angela Lee.

The atomweight grand prix champion, the tournament's ultimate winner, will get a direct shot at the title against Lee, who has been the division's ruler since 2016.
