2 LPAs to bring scattered rains over parts of Cagayan Valley, eastern sections of Visayas, Mindanao -- PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs) inside the country's area of responsibility on Sunday, Sept. 5.

A third LPA was also monitored but still outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), as of 3 p.m.

PAGASA said the two LPAs inside the PAR were located at 190 kilometers (km) west-southwest of Basco, Batanes and at 465 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

These weather disturbances may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Biliran, Eastern Samar, Leyte, Northern Samar, Samar, Southern Leyte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA senior weather specialist Chris Perez said the third LPA was spotted outside the PAR or at 1,620 east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar on Sunday afternoon.

Perez said that one of the two LPAs east of Visayas may weaken while the other may maintain its strength and will move towards the eastern seaboard of Luzon in the next few days.

The LPA that may maintain its strength will be less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next two to three days, he added.

However, Perez said that PAGASA will continue to monitor these weather disturbances for a possible change in weather scenario beyond the forecast period.

PAGASA estimated that two or three tropical cyclones may enter or affect the country this month.

The next cyclones inside the country's area of responsibility will be named "Jolina," "Kiko," and "Lannie."
