PAGASA monitors LPA outside PH area of responsibility

A new low pressure area (LPA) has developed outside the country's area of responsibility on Saturday morning, Sept. 4, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
PAGASA weather specialist Ezra Bulquerin said the LPA has a slim chance of intensifying into a tropical depression at least within 48 hours.
The LPA was estimated at 2,080 kilometers east of Mindanao at around 3 a.m.
Bulquerin said PAGASA will continue to monitor this weather disturbance as the forecast scenario may still change.
PAGASA estimated that two or three tropical cyclones may enter or affect the country this month.
The next cyclones inside the country's area of responsibility will be named "Jolina," "Kiko," and "Lannie."
As of Saturday, the monsoon trough remains the dominant system in the country.
PAGASA said the entire country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
It advised the public to remain vigilant as flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with short-lived heavy rain, lightning, thunder, gusty winds, and sometimes hail.
