Team Secret clobbers MBR Esports to reach upper bracket semis

Team Secret flexed its might all series long as it cruised to an easy 3-0 sweep of MBR Esports to advance to the upper bracket semifinals of Wild Rift SEA Championship 2021 on Thursday, Sept. 30.

TS was dominant in all of the three games as the Filipinos outplayed the Indonesian side on all fronts. A lopsided 20-1 victory in Game 1 set up the tone for the three-game demolition.

Team captain and support James “Hamez” Santos dictated the pace for the Filipinos who started the series with a blistering 10-1 kill advantage within the first five minutes of Game 1.

Hamez was solid in all of the three games, using his Gragas in Game 1 with a 1-0-10 KDA and an even more impressive Galio in Game 2 with 2-1-16 KDA. He finished it off with a support Thresh with another perfect 1-0-12 KDA to close out the series.

It was also a five-man show for Team Secret as every player on the team had their moments in the romp.

Robert "Trebor" Mansilungan on his Nunu & Willump and Caster "Chewy" Dela Cruz on his Ezrael carried the damage for TS in the series opener. The two combined for six of the early 10 kills in Game 1 to finish with 4-0-8 and 5-0-8 KDAs respectively.

TS showed no let up as it dominated every clash in Game 2, all thanks to Hamez’s Galio who negated every initiation attempt from MBR. In return, the Filipinos punished the Indonesians with their counter plays with Heri "Tatsurii" Garcia on his Diana and Eleazar "Azar" Salle cleaning up MBR players after every clash which led to multiple four-man wipes for TS during Game 2

Tatsuri finished with a perfect 10-0-6 KDA while Azar contributed 7-3-10 KDA in another dominating 24-9 win in Game 2.

It was the same story for Game 3 with TS not allowing MBR to get any momentum for a possible comeback. Tatsurii on his Galio, this time, led the charge for the Philippine side with 6-2-9 KDA while Trebor was untouchable on his Jarvan IV with a clean 4-0-10 statline. Team Secret finished Game 3 with another lopsided 17-4 score.

With the win, Team Secret set up a date with Vietnamese team SBTC Esports who got an outright spot in the Upper Bracket Semis after topping Group B with 11 points powered by a 3-2-0 performance in the group stages.
