PH Red Cross tells public: 'Let us honor our doctors'

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) urged the public to continue to honor the Filipino doctors who continue to be at the frontlines as the country continues to battle coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“We at the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) are in awe of all our Filipino doctors,” PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Senator Richard Gordon.

"In this unprecedented time of uncertainty due to the ongoing pandemic, we are comforted by the assurance that heroes always emerge at the battlefront,” he added.

Gordon noted that the PRC continues to respond through testing of physicians and other healthcare workers once every two weeks.

“The PRC has now tested about 80,000 healthcare workers since the beginning of the pandemic,” he explained.

On Sept. 27, the country celebrated the 43rd National Physicians Day.

Together with the Filipino people, the country's premier humanitarian organization PRC continues to celebrate the dedication of every Filipino physician in serving people’s health and well-being, their passion for serving humanity.

“Together with the Filipino people, your passion, and dedication to serving the nation continually inspire us every single day,” Gordon said.

“Your sacrifices will not be in vain as we do our part by staying at home as much as possible, following all the health protocols, and we tell our loved ones and our community to do the same,” he added.

To honor the Filipino doctors, the Senate has also adopted a resolution recognizing and commending their “immeasurable contribution and sacrifices” in the fight against COVID-19.
